YRB Take 2 Points In Opening Game Print E-mail

After an upsetting finish in the fall 2008 season the York Region Blues took the winter season off and got to work on building a team for the spring. The team would display a full roster on opening day vs. the NY Islanders.

In the first period the Blues jumped to a 2-0 lead with both of its goals coming from YRB sniper Charlie Catalano. In the second period the York Region Blues would find themselves in penalty trouble falling two men short. The Islanders capitalized on both opportunities and tied the game at two with over 12 minutes of play remaining in the game. With not much going on midway through the second the Blues top line managed to come out of our zone with some quick momentum and with some great ball movement that had the Blues jump back ahead 3-2 as Charlie Catalano completed the Hat-trick. Late in the game Islanders were desperate for a tie and pulled their goalie but with a give-away up the middle Frank Russo buried the empty netter to close off the game 4-2.

Blues back in action Friday March 6 @ 11:00pm
